Paris: In a goodwill gesture, France announces it
will suspend its naval construction program until December to open the way for
negotiations with Italy. Speaking before
the Foreign Relations Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Foreign Minister
Aristide Briand says, “Another war in Europe is impossible and
inadmissible.”
